Working with large equipment could cause serious injury or death

| Oct 9, 2020 | Workers' Compensation

Construction workers here in Pennsylvania and elsewhere know their job is a risky one. Every day they go to work, they face certain dangers that could cause them serous injury or death. One of those risks is working with large equipment, such as the vehicles used in road construction.

For instance, a construction crew was working near a middle school in one of Pennsylvania’s counties on a recent Wednesday morning. A road roller was being used as part of the project, and at some point, it somehow struck a worker. The details regarding how the accident occurred are unclear, but what is known is that the worker died from the injuries suffered in the incident.

It could take some time to determine exactly what happened. The vehicle was stopped near the Delaware County middle school’s baseball field and officers were seen there and on the field itself. More than likely, the man’s family will be waiting to hear what happened and who may have been responsible. In the meantime, they are forced to bury their loved one and grieve his loss. The unexpected expenses and loss of income the victim’s family now face could prove devastating, especially during these times.

Fortunately, after serious injury or death while on the job, a worker or his or her family may be entitled to workers’ compensation benefits to help manage the financial crisis. However, receiving those benefits is not always as easy as it should be, and considering the circumstances, it often only exacerbates the emotional aspects of the situation. In order to reduce the associated stress, it would probably help to work with a compassionate and experienced attorney.
