The attorneys at Pfeiffer Brown DiNicola & Frantz in Pottsville have been fighting for workers’ rights for decades. Your employer cannot fire you for reporting a workplace injury or seeking workers’ compensation benefits.

Types Of Work-Related Back Injuries

In Pennsylvania, workers’ compensation is a no-fault system, designed to provide injured workers benefits when any of the following types of back injuries occur:

  • Sudden back injuries: Claims involving healthy, and often young, workers who suffer sudden back injuries on the job are among the simpler cases to prove. If you suffered a spinal injury on a construction site, during a fall or while doing heavy lifting, for example, your injury is clearly work-related.
  • Overuse-related back injuries: Overuse claims are more complicated. When you cannot point to a single event that caused your arthritis or back injury, we will have to prove that repetitive motions or overuse at work caused the problem. Our team has the skills and resources to handle these cases, and you will not pay us any fees until we win.
  • Aggravation of preexisting conditions: Many people, especially older individuals, already had bad backs before they suffered back injuries on the job. These people, and their employers, may think they cannot receive workers’ compensation benefits because they had a preexisting condition. This is a great misconception. If a doctor believes that your work was a substantial factor that aggravated your back problems, you are entitled to workers’ compensation.
